This car is not for everybody. For example, it has a 5-speed manual transmission. But if you are comfortable with a manual transmission, this little diesel could be just for you. It consistently gets over 40 mpg running around town, and typically hits around 48-50 mpg on the interstates and other highways. And the mileage is not that high for a diesel engine. The interior (front seats) could use some TLC, but we are factoring that into the price. We ordered the car new through the VW dealer in Nashville in 2005.
