2006 BMW R1200GS – ABS issues – SALE or TRADE?
Located in Middle Tennessee
NO LEAKS, THE WET SPOTS ON GROUND IN THE PICTURES ARE FROM WATER WHERE I HAD JUST WASHED IT.
Up for sale is my 2006 BMW R1200GS with 109,825 miles. This bike was parked and sat for awhile because the front brake was acting strange on a ride. I recently put a new battery in it, added fresh fuel and it started right up.
Since then I have changed out the headlight bulbs, bled the brakes (front, rear, and ABS) and checked it with the GS911.
It has an ABS issue (common with this year). I can email the GS 911 results but the only fault code is “24950 - ABS motor front, defective - The fault is currently present”. The ABS is making a constant whining sound that starts when you engage the brakes and doesn’t stop until you turn the bike off.
I have heard this is a common issue and the best option seems to be bypassing the ABS system, I have a step by step guide to doing this for under $20 dollars I can provide.
There are no known mechanical issues other than the ABS issue.
I have this priced at $3,500 right now…. I am looking to move this bike to get a smaller dual sport to ride with my kid so shoot me an offer and lets make a deal. Comes with everything pictured.
Will consider trades for bikes similar to DR650, XR650, KLR 650, etc…. Just looking for something I can ride on the trails, in the fields, and around town.
