This is a barely used wool picker used for the beginning stages of preparing raw fleece (especially sheep and alpaca) prior to washing, carding and spinning. Picking helps to open up the locks of fleece so that vegetable matter, dirt and other debris can fall out.
Fleece/fiber is placed in one end of the picker and the top is slid back and forth to open up the locks and allow the debris to fall down.
