Robust and healthy, Buffs are good layers (200-280 eggs/yr) and table fare (roos up to 10lbs, table ready at 22 wks). Docile and mellow in temperament, they love to be petted and will quickly become lap chickens if handled daily. They are cold tolerant and frequently broody.

Considerations: Buffs need shade and cool water in the summer months. They have a tendency toward obesity due to their enjoyment of food, but are not the best foragers. Can suffer from lice and mites due to dense feathering, so make sure they have easy access to dust baths.
